Gyratskagora actually isn’t in the habit of hording gold and jewels, as most of his collection appear to be temple bells, weather veins, windchimes, and anything else that reminds him of the sky.The tower itself has been locked down since the dragon’s arrival and is under constant watch by the town guard, but that wouldn’t stop a ambitious band of thieves from sneaking in and perhaps pinching a few of its trinkets for themselves. Dragons are as dragons do, and after a single platinum coin tumbles from an upper window of Squaresetter tower ( where Gordy has made his lair) folk have become convinced that the upper floors of are packed with horded gold and jewels. Some of the best quarries in the realm lay in the valleys surrounding it, which gives an early level party a great excuse to go fight monsters in long abandoned pits, and more advanced parties a resource to tap into should they be constructing a keep of their own. From it’s aqueducts to its cobbled streets to its endless architectural additions, Fhaldengill is a town of stone.Should the party decline such an invitation, they may end up facing off with a band of more merciless mercenaries who end up sending Gordy on a panicked rampage. A growing faction among these wealthy worriers wants the town to return to its placid days of petty tower building, and as such work through agents to hire hunters willing to scare the beast off, or slay it. Construction has pretty much ground to a halt since Gordy moved in, leaving several merchant families and petty nobles seething at their inability to claim the title from the Squaresetter family, who’s tower the dragon seems to have taken as a roost, given that it’s both highest and most spacious. For the past few generations, the wealthy of Fhaldengill have competed with one another to build the tallest spire at the city’s height, fueling the city’s building industry in what amounts to an architectural dick-measuring contest.Hannagan Qwasko, the Tavern’s owner is willing to pay the party a pretty penny and give them room and board if they can contrive a way to have the dragon visit his establishment in the city’s middle quarter in order to add legitimacy to his rampant theming. During their visits, the party will likely stop in at The Keystone The Coiling Drake, a recently rebranded tavern that once payed host to architects and those coming into town to retain their services, but now caters to tourists and dragomaniacs with themed drinks and dumb hats for the waitstaff. Fhaldengill makes a great hub town for the players to return to after successive adventures, close enough to the frontier to allow expeditions into the wilderness, populated enough to have political machinations and market days like any good base of operations. While most were terrified of the dragon at first, over the past few years most of the locals have grown to tolerate their scaly visitor, with some others even viewing him as the new town’s mascot, dubbing him “ Gargoyle Gordy” for ease of use and marketing purposes. Badly wounded and forced to abandon his cavern lair in the mountains, the wyrm has developed something of a phobia regarding the ground, and prefers hopping from spire to spire like a feral cat stuck up a tree. Gyratskagora arrived in Fhaldengill after a clash with a group of hunters intent on taking his hide. Content to be a place that others passed through on their way to greater fortunes and wild adventure, all of that changed when a dragon took up residence in the towns highest district. Setup: Quaint and placid Fhaldengill was never the center of attention, a historic gnomish settlement mostly famed for being the birthplace of many of the realm’s greatest stonemasons and architects. Would you please stop asking about the dragon and let me tell you about the fascinating history of aqueducts already?” “ Yes, there’s a dragon, we all know about it, we’ve all seen the great scaly beast climbing all over the upper city. Settlement: Fhaldegill, City of the Arches
